maschacorman

Mascha Corman heißt die zeitgenössische Künstlerin mit eigenem Stil. Mal anklagend, herausfordernd, mal ruhig und klar interpretiert sie auf ihre eigene Weise.

Mascha Corman is a singer, composer, and music educator. She studied jazz vocals and composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne and at the Bern University of the Arts. In addition, she completed a degree in Deaf Education at the University of Cologne. Her artistic work has been supported by various grants, including those from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Musikfonds, and the GEMA Composer Fellowship.

Mascha’s artistic focus lies in exploring the possibilities of the human voice: she investigates the interplay of words, sound, and noise in the fields of composition, improvisation, and poetry. In 2012, she founded the ensemble emco, followed by the duo Monsters for Breakfast in 2015. Since 2018, she has been working with Canadian laptop artist Mike McCormick on EIDOLON, an electronic improvisation partner programmed in SuperCollider.

Mascha is also the curator of the Soundtrips NRW series in Düsseldorf and teaches at various educational institutions, including the Landesmusikakademie NRW, Kolping Akademie, and Musikland Niedersachsen. Her educational and performative work extends to inclusive and interdisciplinary art projects, such as the Sommerblut Festival, Schauspiel Köln, and Musiktheater im Revier, as well as international collaborations.

As a passionate music educator, Mascha has designed and led numerous workshops for children, young people, and adults. She is an active volunteer with the Jazzpilot:innen of the Deutsche Jazzunion, which was awarded the German Jazz Prize, and develops innovative concepts for the future of jazz education — including for the Jazz-Schmiede Düsseldorf, where she is working on a flagship program to set new impulses in music outreach.

With her children’s concerts, Mascha regularly performs at renowned festivals such as the Beethovenfest Bonn, Summer-KLAENG in Cologne, and jazzahead! in Bremen. Co-productions have also brought her to the stage of the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
